There is a lot of "greenwashing" in the marketplace - false claims of sustainability. We think it's important to let our audiences know exactly how we are green:
1) We print on 100% cotton papers that are made from post-industrial cotton fibers - materials that might otherwise wind up in landfills. Our "most pure" highest-grade papers are made with cotton "short-fibers" recovered from cotton-seed oil manufacturers.
2) We source these papers locally (in Massachusetts) to eliminate the greenhouse gas emissions associated with transporting bulk paper (very heavy).
3) We use entirely VOC-free water based pigmented inks.
4) We use biodegradable mounting adhesives.
5) We mount to soy foam substrates or honeycomb substrates that are made from 100% post consumer recycled papers.
6) On the rare occasion we need to print on fabric or canvas we use 100% recycled cotton substrates. (We also have available a new cotton canvas that's a blend with recycled plastics from soda bottles!).
7) ALL our imaging papers are totally chlorine free, tree free and acid free.
8) We softproof whenever possible which reduces paper proofs.
9) We color manage workflow to ensure accurate color which also reduces proofing.
10) Everything we produce is 100% recyclable.
We don't pretend to know everything there is to know about green image making. In fact, we learn new information every day. Please let us know about the green insights you have. We want to hear from you.
